Cathay Pacific Data Centre

The client

Constructed in Baulkham Hills, Sydney, the Cathay Pacific Data Centre controls and manages all of Cathay Pacific's international airline operations.

It is required to operate 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.


Contract requirements

The contract awarded to T.S.F. Engineering required the provision and installation of:

  • diesel generating power plants
  • fuel storage and reticulation equipment · bus ducts
  • back-up main switchboards
  • control cubicles
  • PLC controllers
  • BMS interconnections
  • loadbanks and associated equipment

Quality and reliability were considered of utmost importance in the construction of the power supply to the sophisticated mainframe computers. It was also required that all major mechanical equipment be designed to withstand the possibility of movement from earthquakes

T.S.F. were responsible for the assembly and installation of:

  • 4x 1850 kVA diesel generating sets coupled to high performance alternators
  • 5,500 amp backup main switchboard to AS1136 Form 3E
  • 3000 Amp bus ducts hung on spring mounts for noise and vibration damping
  • Latest automatic control panels design
  • 3 x 70,000 litre Underground Fuel Storage Tanks with Cathodic protection
  • Comprehensive operation and maintenance manuals.
