Scherger RAAF Base
The client
Scherger is a Department of Defence base in northern Australia. It is located 26km east of Weipa in a remote area where mains electricity is not available.
Contract requirements
T.S.F. was selected in March 1995 to equip a purpose built underground building as a power station for the base. The installation needed to be suitable for both light load conditions, (during periods when the base was not active) as well provide a highly reliable power source for a demanding range of facilities when the base became fully operational.

The work included installation of switchboards and cabling, transformers underground fuel storage and a substantial ventilation system for the underground building.
