Yulara Power Station
The client
In 1981 the Northern Territory Electricity Commission contracted T.S.F. Engineering to carry out works in the Diesel Generating Power Station for the proposed Yulara Tourist Village. The site for the works was in the arid lands located approximately 15km northwest of Ayers Rock.
Contact Requirements
The contract initial required the supply, delivery, installation, setting, testing and commissioning and maintenance of the Diesel Generating Plant, switch gear, electric controls and waste heat recovery equipment.
Work was completely in two stages. The initial order required the supply and installation of 4 dual fuel 815kVA generating sets. A further two dual fuel 1400kVA generating sets were added to the order at a later date.
Each generating set was skid a mounted and housed within its own weather proof and acoustic enclosure. These engines are capable of operating on dual fuel supply and run as a fully automated unmanned facility.
A unitary waste heat recovery system which recovers heat form cooling water and exhaust gases form each diesel engine was also supplied.
Work was carried out within the Uluru National Park, hence it was required that "Special Area Provisions" be strictly followed, particularly with regard to flora and fauna protection.
